a note to newcomers

However you have found this brain dump of mine please note that:
a. this is a blog.  It is a bit of fun.  It is written on a certain day then left behind, I never go back and edit... ANYTHING.
b. before you take it upon yourself to tell me off for being misanthropic and awful, first, remember you might be missing something in my ridiculous writing, second, stop going out of your way to be offended and go and find some mermaids and fluffy things to look at.
c. then again, if you're moved to express your contempt of me, then good... at least I have moved you to SOMETHING.
d. that is all.

swimming pool season PDF E-mail

splash

I'm usually against the having of a swimming pool at our house, either the almost-ex-house or the very-soon-to-be-moved-into-and-rebuilt-house, mostly for the whole aggravating pain in the neck that they are, with all the cleaning and the filtering and the floating leaves and the deadly chemicals.  This time of year always converts me temporarily, though, when the kids just go crazy and are ridiculously happy for whole afternoons at friends' houses.

I may well have to give in.

We had one for a few years when I was a kid... and I loved it - but then my parents did all the work. I never gave in as a parent - my children swam everywhere but at home.... partly due to cost, partly the thought of the work..

One comment my mother did say was how tired she got - everyone wanted to come to swim, and then stay for food, and then dinner.... and she had to babysit all the neighbourhood kids who came to swim.

I am considering a spa pool though!

As a long time reader... I am soo confused about your house.. it seems a very long time since you wrote that you had bought a new one - was it completely unlivable in? Pleeeease update us a little more smilies/smiley.gif

Fi, you are not the only one confused... SO, we bought the other place a year ago. It's habitable, just, but we'd like to snazz it up significantly BUT the sale of THIS place is contributing towards that, and that's taking its own sweet time. There are plenty of other things that seem to be decided one week and not the other that are contributing to the utter chaos that my life is at the moment. hope that clarifies some of it at least smilies/smiley.gif

Thought I'd act as a bit of a naughty enabler here and suggest the UV purification systems as an alternative to the nasty chemicals - much less harmful for us folks, but a whole lot more expensive!
