a note to newcomers

However you have found this brain dump of mine please note that:
a. this is a blog.  It is a bit of fun.  It is written on a certain day then left behind, I never go back and edit... ANYTHING.
b. before you take it upon yourself to tell me off for being misanthropic and awful, first, remember you might be missing something in my ridiculous writing, second, stop going out of your way to be offended and go and find some mermaids and fluffy things to look at.
c. then again, if you're moved to express your contempt of me, then good... at least I have moved you to SOMETHING.
d. that is all.

An open letter to the God of All Things Excrutiatingly Stupid AND to the Ministeiro responsible for the Ministry of Crap.

Os meus Senhores, Please could you explain to me how the measures you may be taking to get more cars off the road are going, because after today, I don't think you're trying very hard.

I was due in Lisbon before 9am this morning.  Normally I would drive to the train station which is about five km away, or drive to Lisbon which is about 25 km away, but car had to go for its MOT/inspecção this week and because it was REALLY quite in need of a good going over, it took an extra day so, this morning, I had to take the bus.

I left the house at 6.40am, in the dark and walked the ten minutes to the bus stop. The bus can't go straight to the station, it has to go all around Quinta de Crapville, the next town along, so takes almost half an hour to get to the train.  I was lucky to catch the 7.35 which takes thirty five minutes to get to Roma/Areeiro.  I walked to Areeiro metro, and headed towards Oriente on the underground.   I got to Expo at 8.50am.  That, Sr. Ministeiro and Sr. God, is more than two hours, and then I had to do it to get home again.  I went into Lisbon watching the sun rise and left watching the sun set.  Quite depressing while sitting on a packed train.

A.  you built the station out of town so that EVERYONE has to drive there, the car parks are full to bursting by 9am and the traffic remains abysmal.

B. for occasional travellers, like me, it is ludicrously expensive.   I have to pay €3.50 for the bus and €5.90 for the train and then, at least, €1.30 on the metro.

C. Lisbon, as brillo as the public transports is WHERE there is public transport, it's still not enough and I want to get from my house to Expo in LESS THAN TWO BLOODY HOURS.

Message this all sends?  Fuck it, go by car, we don't really care anyway.

Anyway, apart from the four hours of travelling time today, I had a blast at Shift 08, doing lots of drawing and getting all geekified.   Click on this drawing to go to flickr if you want to see the rest.
