yes, ma, thank you... plus fours. thank you for the reminder....
i shall explain: my father once turned up to get me from a school trip, when I was thirteen, THIRTEEN, wearing plus fours. He is not a golfer, nor did he come from the nineteen twenties.... he is just evil.
Brilliant! My very existance embarrasses my youngest daughter.

Hiya Lucy..me and Charlie-boy really, really, really, really, LOVED the 3-D sketch, that was fab!!! We also loved the advice to mothers, Charlie especially enjoyed watching your girls turn pinker and pinker!! Great work!! How DO you do it??? Love to all, me 'n' 'im xx
On a train journey with my sister and I, when we were about your girls age, my mother decided to keep the carriage to ourselves by dangling her white gloves(!) from her nostrils and saying 'I wouldn't come in here if I were you - Iv'e got Glove-itis'. We thought it was hysterical. Oh, and it worked.

I loved this video. Beautifully done. My 2 year old baby speaks Portuguese and English… but she’s too young to be embarrassed. I suppose the time will come.

Wow! I've been very silently following your blog for a while now and must delurk to say I absolutely love this! I'm in a very similar situation, having been born and bred a Londoner but to Portuguese folks then leaving (abandoning they claim!) the them plus one sibling in the UK so as to pursue matters of the heart (yep, found myself a fella over here!), and my 7 year old daughter HATES me speaking English when we're out, most ESPECIALLY anywhere near the confines of her school!
I've lost count of the number of posts were I find myself nodding and laughing at your observations of and odes to the Portuguese lifestyle (I'm particularly fond of the Bata Brigade entries as I have quite a few of those in my village...) and I suppose, ultimately, it's oh-so comforting and nice to realise I'm not the only one out there!
hi graciete, welcome to the out of the lurking cupboard. lisa, i'm not telling you.

priceless.... this blog of yours is an absolutely wonderous place. I as yet do not have this problem... I am still at the stage where my eldest (if you can call a 2 and a half year old eldest) puts up with me talking to him exclusively in English an keeps his reactions to simply ignoring the fact and replying in Portuguese. I am sure this will not last long and he will soon be putting me right.
